Alison Porter is a Business Psychologist with 20 years experience in coaching, consultancy, HR and executive search, specialising in senior level assessment and development. Earlier in her career Alison spent seven years with Baring Asset Management where her responsibilities included developing and implementing selection processes, leadership development and career management. Following this she moved into consultancy with an Occupational Psychology practice working in both the public & private sectors. In 2003, Alison established her own consultancy.

 

As a coach Alison designs tailored programmes to facilitate change, combining the use of psychometrics with a variety of coaching methodologies. She works with clients to assess and clarify expectations for future growth, supporting them through a review of their aims, values and overall vision. Alison’s approach helps clients identify factors that hinder performance while making the necessary behavioural and attitudinal changes required to deliver desired outcomes.

 

An essential part of Alison’s model is the development of greater self awareness around perceptions, motivations and preferences. Her clients’ understanding of how these factors influence thinking styles and drive patterns of behaviour directly increase effectiveness and improve work performance. On a technical level, her approach is underpinned by the use of methodologies that draw from solution focused, cognitive behavioural and multi-modal schools of thought.

 

Level A & B qualified, Alison uses a wide range of psychometric instruments and 360° tools in her work, including the Hogan Assessments and the Leadership Versatility Index. A Certified Master Coach of the Behavioural Coaching Institute, Alison also holds a Diploma in Management Coaching and Mentoring from the Institute of Leadership & Management. Her academic qualifications include an MSc in Occupational Psychology from Birkbeck, University of London, a BSc in Psychology and a BA in Hispanic Studies. She has been a member of the British Psychological Society since 1998 and is a founder member of the Special Group in Coaching Psychology (2004).
